Power Thought: The Lord Is My Light and Salvation – Whom Shall I Fear?
Psalm 27:1

Fear is the number one enemy of our lives. Fear is a normal emotion that warns us of danger but the fear that comes to immobilise us and stops us is not healthy fear. Fear is a spirit that comes to stop you from living and enjoying the abundant overdrive that Jesus came to give you.

Fear manifests itself in all kinds of ways, for example being afraid to speak up where you need to, fear of taking the next step, fear of what others think of you, that’s absurd because people’s thoughts of you are in their head so it can’t harm you! The list of things that we are afraid of is endless but ultimately fear comes to numb us and to stop us from fulfilling the purpose of God for our lives.

Your Heavenly Father “has not given you a spirit of fear but a spirit of power, love and soundness of mind”. (2 Timothy 1:7) Remember that fear is coming after your power which is your faith, it wants to steal your peace of mind so that you become anxious and fear also communicates to you that you are not loved.

Face your fear by talking to fear. Bring all the things you are afraid of to the light, because God is light and when it comes to the Light it can no longer torment you or intimidate you.

The only fear you ought to have is a reverential fear and respect for your God.

Living courageously and boldly does not mean you don’t have fear but you proceed in the midst of fear. Remember this by Waldo Emerson “A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes longer” Take one step today.
