Pause! For Just A Minute

Empowering Thought

The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah [pause and calmly think of that]!

Psalm 46:11

Pause: “To interrupt action or speech briefly”

This year my note to self is: ‘Jayne, remember to hit the pause button’

Pausing may sound easy at face value but it can sometimes be the most difficult thing to do, especially in a world where everybody is in a hurry. The world we live in is moving at an alarming rate and it feels like if you pause, for even a moment, you will be left behind.

However, one of the most effective and important things to do is to take a moment. The Bible has these pauses at the end of verses, namely in the Psalms where it says ‘Selah’ – Pause and think on this. I think it is significant because that’s exactly what God wants us to do.

When you pause, you are able to catch your breath before continuing on your journey; it allows you the space and time to reflect and think about your next step.

At the start of this year and decade, learn to hit the pause button during various points on your journey. Take time to assimilate what is going on in your life, recalibrate, and then continue.  It is equally important to pause during the challenging periods of life, times when it’s the last thing you want to do, but when you take time to pause you will be able to draw on wisdom that is deep within your heart and be empowered to carry on.

Don’t be in a hurry to bypass everyone or to get to your goals. Remember, you are not in a race with anyone when it comes to the life journey. God has carved a niche path and purpose for you and you alone. He is able to take you there when you allow Him to lead and also when you create space in your daily conversations with Him to hear His responses.

This year, don’t be in a hurry learn to have moments of pause and reflection. Remember “it is not only moving that creates new starting points…” says Kristin Armstrong

Every Blessing on the road. It is my prayer that you have an impactful year.
