    The Way

    Empowering Thought

“I am always doing things I can’t do”

In the New Testament the Christian life is described as a way of being and doing in the world. This means that my daily life and all the practices and things I do reflect the way- the way of life I have embraced in deciding to make Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour.

But what I love about this new way of living is that I don’t have to do it in my own strength and you also don’t have to do it all by yourself and in your own strength. We started this journey by grace the strength of God coming to us and we also continue by His grace. This is how I like to put it, whenever I feel frustrated and stressed out I take a step back because I’m doing it in my own strength. My strength is limited, and it means I need to draw from His grace.

Today draw your strength for the way from Jesus who is the One who started this process in you and who will also be the One who will complete whatever He has started in you.

We are the people of the way who enjoy the ‘way’.

    Slow Is The New Fast

“Eliminate all hurry from your life”

    – Dallas Willard

Learning to take life slow is one of my hardest lessons, however it is the most fulfilling and healthiest choices I’m embracing and that’s why I’m sharing this with you.

Jesus was emphatic in His teachings on staying in the present, at any given time to focus on the moment you are in and enjoy and take in what life is giving you right now!

Take a deep breath and embrace where you are right now. When you think and rush into tomorrow, the unknown it tends to lead to worry and then anxious thoughts and feelings. Truth is because “He lives you can face tomorrow”. Right now is the time you are in.

If you are taking a break this August then enjoy your rest.

    Shalom.

    Think On This:

“Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.”

God will carry me when I’m tired

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.

    Isaiah 40:29 NLT

In the same way that God told the Israelites on their journey through the wilderness that He personally carried them as an eagle carries its young, so the Lord will lift you up and carry you when you are tired on the way. He knows that fatigue and weariness is going to be a part of your journey.

My question to you is ‘Are you tired? Do you need a lift and a raise?  If that’s you this week then I’m also standing with you in prayer for the lift and the raise you need. All you have to do is ask Him, allow the strength of the Father to lift you up and it is my prayer that you continue to soar on eagles wings.

The goal is to know Jesus

Above all the goals I set for myself yearly I have one goal that is always on my list it is articulated succinctly in Philippians “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,” (Philippians 3:10 NLT)

It’s taken me a long time and I’m not there yet but I have learned and learning that a life worth living is making Christ the centre and focus of all I do. All the other goals you and I desire in our lives or are aspiring to can be accessed when Jesus is the centre of all you are and do.

Wake up everyday and simply  press toward this higher goal of knowing Jesus. When you get to know somebody really well you get to know their character and who they really are. By getting to know Jesus you get to know His true nature and His power in your life. You navigate your life from a powerful place.

Focus on Jesus every step of the way. He will get you to your  ‘there’
